What is a GPX file?

GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is a widely supported file format for sharing routes and tracks between navigation apps, GPS devices, cycling computers, and outdoor planning tools. This converter uses the route from your Google Maps directions link and packages its track geometry into a standard GPX 1.1 download.

Always review the imported route in your chosen navigation app. Roads, trails, access rules, and GPX import behavior can change, and the exported track does not include live traffic or turn-by-turn instructions.

A Google Maps directions share link is not itself a GPX file. This converter reads the route locations and travel mode from the link, calculates the route geometry, and packages it as a standard GPX track.

Usually it will be close, but an exact match is not guaranteed. Google may calculate a different alternative route, and preferences such as avoiding tolls, highways, or ferries may not be included in the shared link. Review the downloaded track before using it.

Yes. The converter tries to read the travel mode from the shared link. You can also explicitly select Driving, Cycling, or Walking before downloading the GPX file.
